How To Stay Safe During The Coronavirus Outbreak

Pro City Facilities wants you to stay safe during the coronavirus outbreak. We encourage you to practice social distancing and other important safety practices in order to help flatten the curve and keep as many people as possible safe and healthy. Covid-19 is a novel coronavirus that roared to life in December of 2019. Since then over two million people have become infected in 181 countries around the globe, and thousands have died. Covid-19 has shut down schools, closed businesses, and sent many people scattering into isolation in an attempt to flatten the curve of infections.

If you're worried about Covid-19, here are some safety precautions you can take to help limit the spread of infection during this time.

Wear a Face Mask

The CDC is asking people to wear face masks out in public to help control the spread of the virus. While cloth masks and face masks that are not medical grade can still be permeated by the virus, it does help stop the spread of the disease by reminding you not to touch your nose or mouth. If you happen to be infected and are not yet showing symptoms, it can also help by limiting how far the virus can spread through the droplets you breathe. Wearing a face mask is important in places where it is difficult to maintain 6 feet between yourself and other people, such as when you need to visit the grocery store. A face mask is not a replacement for visiting a store, but can help you from contracting the virus or spreading it used along side social distancing.

Wash Your Hands

Covid-19 can also spread through contact with surfaces contaminated by the virus, especially high-touch surfaces such as door knobs and key pads. You can help slow the spread of the virus by washing your hands frequently. You should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap and warm water, and include your wrist and finger nails as well as the palms of your hand. Washing your hands reduces the amount of contaminants on your hand, and can both reduce the risk of you catching the virus and the risk of you spreading it also.

Stay Home

The most important thing you can do to stay safe during the epidemic—and possibly the hardest—is to stay home. The best way to avoid getting sick is to avoid situations where you will get sick in the first place. For some people this is impossible. Essential workers need to go to work in order to save lives, whether that is through working in a hospital or cleaning the rooms. If you can however, staying home will make the work of essential people easier, and make it harder for the virus to spread. Covid-19 is a serious disease. We all need to work together to stay safe and healthy. Together we can flatten the curve and bring Covid-19 to a close, but in order to do that we need to do our best to avoid spreading the virus as much as possible.
